Why Choose Pawsitive Pooches?

When you decide it is time to seek help in training your dog, why should you choose us?

Team Work

We are dedicated to providing the best of care for both you and your dog as a team. We work with both ends of the lead and believe that all of our training is not just easy and simple to follow but effective too. We deal with all behaviour and training challenges by offering a range of group classes and one to one training outdoors or at your own home.

Consistency

As a small team, we are able to provide a constant for you - you'll see the same trainer for the most part throughout your training journey which means we get to know you and your dog. The small exception to this is if you choose to attend a group class as some of these are run by Lucy and some by Lindsey.

Experience & Knowledge

Pawsitive Pooches has helped hundreds of dogs and their owners since 2007. Our trainers are knowledgeable, experienced and patient. Lucy and Lindsey are academically qualified, have a broad range of experience and hold membership in several dog training organisations. Lucy also has 6 years experience of working on behalf of a high profile animal welfare charity, so has extremely good working knowledge of the Animal Welfare Act.

Great Classes

Our wide range of classes provide group training sessions teaching much more than just sit, down and stay. Each class is limited to just 4-6 dogs, so that we can offer each dog/handler team the maximum amount of support and guidance. Lindsey is a PGCE qualified teacher and education professional as well as a dog trainer, so not only are we experts in training dogs, but our classes are also carefully planned to make sure that we are teaching the humans well too.

Positive Training

We fully understand how to use positive reinforcement to address all training issues, using up-to-date, scientifically proven and humane methods of training, ensuring that we are in a fantastic position to give you long-lasting results rather than temporary solutions. This is not just having food in your hands to get your dog to do what you ask. We will show you how to use functional rewards to teach your dog and help them understand your expectations.

Get Results That Last

We know that punishment based training can work short term, though is not only ineffective over the long term, but can have detrimental effects, not only on your bond with your dog, but on your dog's wellbeing. We have the knowledge, experience and understanding to prevent you having to rely on treats 24/7 and to show you how to avoid you ever having to say "he will only do it if I have a treat in my hand".
