Instead of sitting and listening to a class, you'll get the chance to work through a number of Training Stations with our instructor working around the room to support each dog and owner team. Each station is set up to teach an exercise from one of the following categories:

Obedience
Recall
Lead Walking
Manners
Each exercise will be demonstrated at the start of the class and will have a reminder instruction card at your Training Station, plus next steps and tips to stretch your dog's skills. You will also have the choice to choose a Fun & Games card instead, which means that you can teach a trick or game to your dog instead of the listed exercise if you prefer.
Everything you need to complete the exercise will be provided. All you need is your dog with a collar/harness and normal lead, plus some treats.
Due to the nature of this class, we are restricting the number of dogs in each session to 4. This ensures that we can offer the space and support necessary for you to work comfortably and successfully.
Due to this limitation, advance booking is required. You can also add yourself to the waitlist for any full sessions in case a space becomes available. If someone cancels, you'll get an email offering you the place.
No. Drop in means that there is no set block of dates for attendance. You can come to any session that you are free to attend, whether you book in every week for a short period, or once per month. You decide how often you want to train.
Booking in advance is required simply to avoid disappointment because we have a limited number of spaces available in each session.
We will be running Training Club as follows:
- Friday evenings 7pm at Sprotbrough (Scout Hut, Anchorage Lane)
- Saturday afternoons 2:30pm at Brampton Bierlow (Cortonwood Comeback Centre)
Sessions are around 45-50mins long
This class is suitable for dogs of all ages and sizes, though if your dog is under 6mths we recommend trying some Puppy Foundation sessions first to get the basics in place.
Dogs in adolescence who need help retaining their learning, adult dogs who need a refresher, rescue dogs who need a good foundation in training, older dogs who would benefit from some mental stimulation, puppy owners who would like to keep up their training. All are welcome!
We recommend that your dog already has a few basic skills such as sit, down and maybe can wait for 5-10sec on cue, but not having these is not a barrier to joining the Club. We can get you started with these on your first session so you are ready for your next Club session.
If your dog is under 6mths old, we recommended you try some Puppy Foundation sessions first to teach the basics and get some positive socialisation under your belt before joining the Club.
The Club is an indoor class held in a large hall, but is still of limited size, and for a lot of reactive dogs it is difficult to be close to other dogs for an extended amount of time. The dogs on other stations will also be moving around for their training, which can be an extra trigger and distraction for a reactive dog.
We don't encourage reactive dogs in indoor classes due to the high level of stress it can put on the dog and on their owner, but if you have a dog who has been working on their reactivity and you'd like to try them in class, please contact us to discuss before booking..
Whilst we offer bulk purchase discount options for Training Club, there is no fixed schedule. The exercises in our rotation are adjusted to the level that the dogs in attendance are working at, so you can drop in to any class and know that you can work on training that suits you and your dog.
Whether you're training towards a specific goal, trying to keep your dog's head in the game, working together for mental stimulation or just training to have fun and build relationship together, you can drop in once per week, once per month or once per year and still learn something. Train on your schedule!
There are 4 themed Training Stations available to work on exercises linked to lead walking skills, improving recall, training obedience behaviours and working on your dog's manners. There are also fun 'Chance' cards available in each session with focus and attention games or trick training exercises to try if you don't fancy one of the Station exercises.
If you're working towards a particular goal, speak to the trainer who will make sure your progress in class brings you closer to that goal, either by tweaking your training or offering bespoke exercises to work on.
Absolutely. You can bring one dog to one Training Club session and another dog the next time you visit. You can work on the same exercises for both dogs, or tailor your training to each.
You can also bring two dogs to one Training Club session, but you will need a handler over 18 for each dog as we recommend that they work in different stations rather than together to make the best of your time in class.
Whilst the training in Club is fully adapted to the individual level of each dog, we do recommend that puppies under 6mths attend our Puppy Foundation class before joining Club to make sure that both you and your dog have the pre-requisite skills in place to really make the most of Training Club.
We do ask that you let us know if you have a female in season so that we can reschedule your session. Females can struggle with unfamiliar experiences and can generally be a bit off their food or lack enthusiasm for training when in season, so you will not get as much out of the session as you would have done on a normal day. In addition to this, the scent of a female in season is usually extremely distracting for any male dogs in the class, meaning that they will find it difficult and their owners will find it harder to train them. As these two factors can lead to overall disruption to the class session, we ask that females in season don't attend classes. Please get in touch as soon as you know that your dog is in season.
